Introduction: It is recognised that osteocytes, by secreting sclerostin plays a more central role in bone homeostasis. Sclerostin is a physiological inhibitor of bone formation. By binding to the LRP5/6 receptor sclerostin inhibits the Wnt signalling pathway.
